Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2012 is the all India Entrance examination combinely conducted by the Indian Institute of Sciences and 7 Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. And the Overall coordination and responsibility of GATE 2012 lies with IIT Delhi, designated as the Organizing Institute for GATE 2012 .
GATE 2012 is conducted through 8 zonal administrative institutes which are the following.

3. Zone-3: IIT Delhi
4. Zone-4: IIT Guwahati
5. Zone-5: IIT Kanpur

GATE 2012 Information BrochureEligibility for GATE 2012 Examination
Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and final year students of such programmes. OR Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Architecture (Post-B.Sc./Post-Diploma) and final year students of such programmes. OR Master's degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and final year students of such programmes. OR Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master's degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology. OR Candidates in the fourth or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master's degree programme or Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology. OR Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by Institute of Engineers (India); AMICE by Institute of Civil Engineers (India)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech.
