Salt N Pepper Dubai 100 Days Celebrations on 27th October 2011
The Superhit Malayalam movie Salt N Pepper is completing the 100 days while the celebrations are held in Dubai on 27th October 2011. A surprise hit directed by Aashiq Abu, it starred Lal, Shweta Menon, Asif Ali and Mythili in the leads. The ceremony is held in Dubai and will have the performance of 'Avial'.
It came without so much noise, but went on to create many 'vow!'s. Now it is completing 100 successful days of running in the theatres. Yes, the superhit Malayalam film Salt N Pepper is completing 100 days. The celebration will be held in Dubai on 27th October, Thursday. The ceremony will have a concert by Avial, the most popular musical band from Kerala. The actors of the film, Shweta Menon and Baburaj will be there to grace the stage with the director Aashiq Abu. The music director Bijibal, whose songs and soundtrack in the film were immensely popular in Kerala, will also perform on the stage. He will be accompanied by popular upcoming singer Neha Nair.
'Salt N' Pepper', a romantic comedy film that starred Lal, Asif Ali, Shweta Menon and Mythili was a surprise hit in Kerala. Crafted by Aashiq Abu, the film was centered on a theme 'food' with a caption 'oru dosa undakkiya katha' (story of making of a dosa). It attracted all kind of audience with its brand new presentation and often hailed as the first food film in Malayalam. The performance of actors and the music were widely appreciated. The film was made out of the traditional formulae and set a benchmark for the experimental film movement in Malayalam. It also presented the typed villain actor Baburaj in a totally different role and recieved the grand applause. Some film makers have shown interest in remaking the film in other languages.
Avial, Kerala's first global rock band, had performed the closing credits of the movie with one of their album songs 'Anakallan'. The band had become famous for mixing the Malayalam folk with alternative rock and 'Anakkallan' was an example of that. Though the song wasn't fitted to the storyline, it also went on to be a hit with other songs in the film.
The event is getting organised by the Kairali We Channel Middle East, the youth channel that is a part of Malayalam Communications. The reception this film has led many filmmakers think the other way.
