After the disappointing performance of 'The Train' and other few movies, director Jayaraj is back to the mainstream cinema. He is teaming up with Jayaram for the latest movie 'Nayika'. Jayaram and Jayaraj are joining hands after 'Aanachantham' of 2006. Nayika tell the story of a yesteryear heroine, who was once the heart throbe of the audience. It explores the actress's personal life and reasons for her sudden disappearance from the silver screen. The movie stars Padmapriya, Mamta Mohandas and Sharada in female leads.Nayika Movie Story
Nayika is the story of a leading actress and heartthrobe of yesteryears, named Gracy. Despite the fame and stature she suddenly disappeared from the silver screen due to unrevealed reasons. After years, now, a journalist named Aleena has come to make a documentary on her life. She go through the incidents happened in the life of Gracy and unrveils the mystery revolving her life and the reasons for her unannounced disappearance. Gracy is portrayed by Sharada whereas Padmapriya appears as the younger version of her. Mamta handles the role of Aleena. Jayaram is portraying a celebrated hero of those times which have resemblance to Prem Nazir. The story has recieved the elements of inspiration from the life of actor Sharada herself. Siddique is also doing a major role in the film, as Stephen Muthalali, the owner of a famous film studio.
The film is enriched with beautiful songs penned by Sreekumaran Thampy and set to tune by M K Arjunan. A remixed version of the golden old hit 'Kasthuri Manakkunnallo' from the 1975 film Picnic has been included in the film. The song, features Jayaram and Padmapriya, has already found a place among the chartbusters.
Other than the leads, the film has a big cast including Madhu, Jagathy Sreekumar, KPAC Lalitha, Sarayu and Jayaraj's wife Sabitha Jayaraj. The script is by Deedi Damodaran. Produced by Thomas Benjamin, the film is expected to hit the screens on 28th November.
