Malayalees will never forget Soumya's face. Soumya was a young lady who was murdered brutally by Govindachami during rape and theft attempt. The murder creates many social scenarios and discussions in Kerala. Many social workers and politicians come against the lack of security in railway and increasing brutality against women. The prayer of Malayalees doesn't go into vain. Govindachami, the dreaded one hand killer has got a good punishment from fast track court. Govindachami will get a capital punishment in Soumya's murder. The verdict was announced by judge KN Ravendra Babu. The court has found guilty against Govindachami for rape, murder, robbery and trespassing. Govindachami was brought to the court with high security. Many people were present in the court surroundings and they were shouting against the brutal killer. The case sheet consists of 200 sheets which include the statements of 156 witnesses. Trial was started on June 6.
Prosecution explained that the case as rarest of rare case and he said that the Govindachami has not shown any qualm during murder and rape. Prosecution successfully convinced the court about the presence of Govindachami in the train between 5.30 pm and 8.30 pm and was able to prove the presence of his skin under Soumya's nail. Fingerprints experts from Tamilnadu established previous cases against Govindachami. Soumya's brother Santhosh also demands capital punishment against Govindachami.
The defense lawyer for the Soumya murder case was B.A, Aloor who is a prominent criminal lawyer. Malayalees did not get any clue how Govindachami hires a highly paid lawyer. The crime happens nine month before on February 1, 2011. Soumya was on a return journey to home from his Ernakulam office in Ladies compartment of Shornnur passenger. Govindachami was also travelling in the same train with one of his friend. Govindachami takes a close look in the compartment and noticed Soumya. With an intention of theft Govindachami also enters into the compartment at Vallathol Nagar station. Then Govindachami tries to capture Soumya's bag but Soumya resist the attack. During the fight Soumya was thrown out by Govindachami. Then Govindachami also jumped out and saw Soumya unconscious. Then he takes Soumya to bushes and was brutally raped. By seeing other peoples Govindachami ran into darkness. Then he escapes to Thrissur and then to Palakkad.
Fortunately the Kerala police show full sincerity to Soumya murder case. Govindachami was caught by Kerala police within one day of crime. Kerala police also creates a case sheet which does not contain a single loop hole for Govindachami to escape. Govindachami is basically from Tamilnadu and he has numerous cases for robbery. He is a one handed man who specially concentrates in train robbery. He is also considered as one of the important wing of Tamil criminal network.
