New Malayalam film with five directors
A Malayalam film is coming that to be directed by five directors after Kerala Cafe. The film will have parts of 28 minutes. The directors are Major Ravi, Deepan, Mathews, Vinod Vijayan and Rajeesh Amanakara. The film will be produced by Sibi Thottapuram and Jobi Mundamattom under the banner of S J M Entertainemnts. The Malayalam cinema has seen many director partnerships over the years. But the Kerala Cafe was the first film that saw a large group of directors. After 'Kerala Cafe', another film is getting ready, that to be directed by a group of directors. Kerala Cafe consisted of ten short films directed by ten different acclaimed directors each lasting approximately 11 minutes. The project actually took inspiration from the Bollywood flick 'Dus Kahaniyan' and led by Ranjith. It included the films by Laljose, Anwar Rasheed, Revathi, B Unnikrishnan and others. Ranjith did not direct any film though he was the team leader. The project saw many stars in different films including Mammootty, Suresh Gopi, Prithviraj, Jayasurya and all. The film got noted though some flaws were there.
Now, the new project has also drawn a big attention from the film afficionados. The title of the upcoming project has not been decided yet. It will consist of five movies each will last 28 minutes to maximum. The directors who are taking part in the project are Major Ravi, Deepan, Mathews, Vinod Vijayan and Rajeesh Amanakara. The film will be produced by Sibi Thottapuram and Jobi Mundamattom under the banner of S J M Entertainemnts. Each film has a unique storyline and experimentation.
Major Ravi's film depicts the relationship between a soul and spirit. Casting is on progress. He is trying to recover from the flop of the 'Kandahar' that was a disaster despite the presence of Amitabh Bachchan and Mohanlal.
Deepan, who found his foothold with the Prithviraj starrer 'Puthiya Mukham' will direct the second film. It is reportedly taken in the backdrop of Theyyam. The important roles will be handled by Thilakan, Sukumari, Salim Kumar, Kannan Pattambi, Jyothirmayi and Manju Pillai.
Vinod Vijayan is telling the story of a child. The child makes a kite with news paper clips about a particular news he accidentally noticed. Its casting is also progressing.
The film by Rajesh Amanakara portrays a newly married couple. The final one is directed by Mathews and it explores the depth of the relationship between a father and daughter. The casting of both films have not been finalised.
The new project is expected to be another milestone in the new age Malayalam Cinema. It is hoped to make new waves in film making.
