Navy Week Celebrations from 27 November 2011-11 December 2011
Navy week celebrations on 27 November 2011: Operational demonstration at Rajendra maidan / Subhash Park, Ernakulam from 4:30 PM onwards.
Navy week celebrations on 5 December 2011: Navy queen pageant at naval base from 7:30 PM onwards.
Navy week celebrations from 9 December 2011-11 December 2011: Navy fest at naval base from 10:00 AM- 9:30 PM & displaying ship and aircraft at naval base from 10:00 AM- 4:00 PM.
As a part of the navy week celebrations, the NIAT(Naval institute of aeronautical technology) will be conducting community services at the Good hope old age home located in Fort Kochi, Ernakulam district of Kerala state, India from 24 November 2011 -26 November 2011. Those community services include sprucing up the area and providing lunch gifts for the inmates. Apart from this, the elderly inmates of good hope will be entertained by the navy children school choir. There will be a medical checkup for the inmates conducted by the naval doctors from INHS Sanjivani. On 27 November 2011, an operational demonstration will be held at Rajendra Maidan in Ernakulam district of Kerala state, India.
The operational demonstrations include combat display by ships, aircrafts & marine commandos. Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy will be the chief guest for this function. On 4 December 2011(navy day), the solemn beating retreat ceremony will be held. But the navy ball as well as the navy queen contest will be held on 5 December 2011. There will be a military photo exhibition conducted by the photojournalists of Ernakulam during the navy fest that will be held from 9 December 2011- 11 December 2011. During these days, naval warships and aircrafts will be opened to the visitors including school children. In order to ensure that the navy aircraft participating in the fly-past are not endangered by birds, the public were told not to throw any food items or garbage near Rajendra Maidan.
