Amma's Kerala Strikers to shift base from Kochi to Dubai?

Again the cricket fans in Kerala would have to hear a bad news. If the spreading rumours are true Kerala's CCL team is all set to leave the Kochi dock as well.

The latest reports suggest that the AMMA's Kerala Strikers, the representatives of Malayalam Movie industry in the Celebrity Cricket League, would change their home ground from Kochi to Dubai in the next season onwards, if not in the current one. The lack of co-operation from the Kochi corporation and officials is pointed out as the reason.

The Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium in Kaloor, Kochi is the stadium for the CCL matches in Kerala. A few matches have been planned in Gulf owing to the high Malayalee population there as well. But the team officials are planning to shift the base of the team to Dubai completely. All matches of the team would be held in Dubai next year onwards. They complainted about the lack of basic facilities in the Nehru stadium. The Kochi corporation has failed to provide the basic facilities even after recieving high amount as fees. The team officials said that the corporation demanded 48% of the ticket value as tax. But Kerala Strikers can't continue affording this much financial debts. Superstar Mohanlal and Lizzy Priyadarshan, the team owners, have met the Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and given a complaint regarding the issue. Not much details have been come out.

The CCL campaign of AMMA's Kerala Strikers in this season starts on 21st January with the match against Chennai Rhinos at Hyderabad. The team is captained by Mohanlal and features a group of young actors of mollywood. If the Kerala Strikers also is leaving Kochi, it will be a double blow to the Cricket fans here. The expulsion of Kerala's IPL team Kochi Tuskers Kerala was a shock to the fans here. If the Kerala Strikers too go that way, it will result in much disappointment. Let us hope that won't happen.
