The film is an offbeat movie which will not have many commercial elements in it. The movie is incidentally about a young man who is passionate about acquiring a doctorate in Malayalam. The young man loves Malayalam . But certain unforeseen circumstances make him to work in a pig farm. Entering the real life, he sees many illegal activities during his work. Naturally as the son of a communist father, he reacts and thereby is forced to face the consequences of those reactions.
The story line is about how a young man loses hope in his life. Educated unemployed youths are increasing day by day in Kerala and the circumstances in this movie are a pointer to the circumstances that exist in Kerala now.
Jayasuriya coming up after a successfull year in 2011 with hits like beautiful and Janapriyan have high hopes in this movie. Particularly because his first release in 2012 – Kunjaliyan had not been declared a hit. Kunjaliyan though good in parts had an average climax.
Further the character in the movie provides Jayasuriya the opportunity to show his acting in another fashion. Jayasuriya is becoming a sensation in Malayalam with the number of variations he has been trying. As an actor it has to be said that Jayasuriya has improved a lot and is still showing signs of improvement.
The film director Avira Rebecca had earlier directed the Sreenivasan movie Thakarachenda and had won critical acclaims. This movie too would high on story and real life experiences and will be a film that every Jayasuriya fan would keep close to his heart. Veteran actor M R Gopakumar plays the father of Jayasuriya in the character Achukoodam Madhavettan. He plays the role os a former political activist. Ramya nambheeshan plays the role of Sneha who is friend to Sreekumar (the character played by Jayasuriya ). It is with her help that Jaysuriya finds a job in the pig farm.
There is enormous potential in the story line for an actor to portray his acting skills.Jayasuriya was selected as the first choice to portray this role by the director Rebecca 2 years ago. But busy schedules by Jayasuriya backtracked the film. After a long wait the film was stated in November 2011 with picturesque locations in idukki. Idukki was involved in the mullaperiyar issue controversies then. Pig Man can be said to be the first Malayalam movie that has come in support of building a new dam in idukki. The social responsibility of the director and the crew needs to be appreciated.
