Husbands in Goa is the new venture that is started by Saji Surendran after the film Kunjaliyan. The film has got a big star cast that includes 3 established young stars of Malayalam cinema in the lead.The film is not going to be a sequel to his earlier venture Happy Husbands.

Happy Husbands is about the story of 3 husbands who have become fed up with their life with their wives. All the 3 wives are pretty peculiar in their characters and are making the life hard for their husbands. Indrajith plays a lawyer in the family court who is soft in character. He is married to Bhavana who is lazy because she was the only sister to 4 brothers and has been brought up as the pampered sister. Due to her laziness and character Indrajith is forced to do almost all the household chore in their house and hence has become fed up with her.

Jayasuriya plays a highly paid chartered accountant who is married to Bhama. Bhama plays a purely devotional character that is into the devotional aspects of life too much. Asif Ali plays the bank employee who is married to Samvritha Sunil. Samvritha is a highly educated woman who runs a entrance coaching institute.

All 3 of them are friends and have the common problem that they are fed up with their wives. They decide to lie to their wives and go for a journey to Goa. During this journey they meets Lal who plays a harsh husband who is almost going to be divorced by Rima Kallingal due to his way-ward and harsh life style. These 3 husbands get excited at the character of Lal and tries to emulate him. This is the background with in which the story of the film husbands in Goa will develop. The film would be comedy entertainer as most of the film s directed by Saji Surendran have been.

Coming from a serial background where family sentiments play a major role Saji Surendran have done well in the comedy department with his first film Ivar Vivahitharaayal being a hit. In fact it is that film which gave Jayasuriya some breathing space in Malayalam cinema. It was with that film that people started to take seriously in terms of acting solo in movies as the lead. Earlier he was relinquished to doing mostly the second hero with Prithviraj or Narain cast as the main lead.
