Unnam malayalam movie review - First day reports from theatres
Unnam has released to the theatres and the response for the film is average. In fact expectations for the film was huge considering the acting talent in the film , directorial skills of Sibi Malayil and the get up of actors including the young sensation Asif Ali. But soon rumours started floating in the film industry that the film Unnam is just another remake of the Hindi film Johny Gaddhar. The critics of Asif Ali soon took this opportunity to blame the hell out of him considering the wrath he is getting from facebook groups due to the recent incidents. But all mouth went shut when in the credits the film crew openly mentioned that the film is a remake of Johny Gaddhar. The film in fact turned out to be frame by frame remake which dragged in many sequences mainly because you have watched Johny Gaddhar.

The story line of the film is the same with lal plying the part played by Dharmendra in the original and Asif Ali coming in for neil Nitin Mukesh. Sreenivasan, Nedumudi Venu and Prashanyh Narayan forms the rest of the main cast. Aiming big, these crooks get a deal with Sreenivasan who plays a corrupt police officer. Lal who has enough underground connections works out the proper plan and adds his friends who really needs a living to the plan. But all plans go hay wire when one among them turns traitor and the film has been crafted well to the story line.

Asif Ali plays Aloshi well but goes wayward in his acting when dealing with emotions. There is a definitely a need for him to improve there and we all are sure that he will improve considering the fast exposure and response he has got in Malayalam. One dialogue "Marikkan enikkku pediyaanu anna" stands out among the rest.

Prashanth Narayan does a good job in his debit in Malayalam. His style of dialogue delivery brings a bit of variety to the film. No wonder he was cast as the villain in murder 2. Let us sincerely hope that he acts more often in Malayalam .he is a talent not to be discarded.

Sibi Malayil have done a real copy stuff. But we have no rights to blame him. Shankar too has done a complete copy stuff with Nanban. But seriously considering the films which he has directed before, a better film was in the expectations of many.

Verdict: A definite watch for those who have not seen the film Johny Gaddhar.
