K J Yesudas is regarded as a living legend who had contributed a lot to the field of music. A man born with a golden tongue has completed 50 years of his musical journey giving voice to thousands of songs in various Indian languages. Asianet, the leading entertainment channel in Kerala had conducted a mega show on 6th February at Port Trust Grounds in Cochin with an attendance of around 25000 people to honour Yesudas, the musical maestro who had completed 50 years in the music industry. The event titled as 'Dasettan@50', hosted by Asianet which brought together legends from music and cinema on one platform.
Kattassery Joseph Yesudas' or Yesudas popularly known as Dasettan is a real self pride of all Keralalites who had made each of us sing along with the songs for the last 5 decades.
This mega event had seen the top most personalities representing film and music industry coming together to honour the ever green legend of music. Mammootty, Suresh Gopi, Jayaram, Manoj K.jayan, Siddique, Kunchacko Boban, Narain, Nedumudi Venu, Kavya Madhavan, director Kamal, Sathyan Anthikad representing Malayalam movie industry while M.Balamuralikrishna, V.Dakshinamoorthy, M.K.Arjunan, Ilayaraja, Shyam, Ouseppachan, Rajamani, Vidyasagar and M.Jayachandran from the music field did attend the function making it one of the biggest grand show ever happened in Kerala.
Asianet will be telecasting 'Dasettan@50' on 25 and 26 February, 2012 to celebrate the popular music singer Yesudas or Dasettan on completion of his 50 years presence in the music industry. Viewers can watch 'Dasettan @ 50' on February 25th (Saturday ) and January 26th ,2012 ( Sunday) at 6.00PM.
The highlight of the programme was the performances by Bollywood singers Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal. Popular singers like K.S.Chithra, M.G.Sreekumar, G.Venugopal, Sujatha, Unni Menon, Shwetha Mohan, Manjari, Rimi Tomy, Devanand, Afsal, Sudeep Kumar, Rajalakshmi, and Madhu Balakrishnan were present at the event. Samvritha Sunil, Sandhya, Asha Sarath, Vineeth Kumar, Govind Padmasoorya, Sarayu , Dhanya Marry & John with their performances added more colours to the mega event.
