Jawan of Vellimala malayalam movie – Anoop Kannan kicks off as director

Jawan of Vellimala is an upcoming Malayalam movie directed by Anoop Kannan which revolves around the story of people living in a village called Vellimala. Megastar Mammootty will play double role in the movie while it would be the first movie produced by the actor himself under his own banner PlayHouse. Playhouse had emerged as an active distribution company which already had distributed movies like Notout, Chattambinadu, Rithu, Kaanakanmani, Neelathamara, Sevenes, Pranjiyettan and the Saint, The King and the Commissioner, etc.

The movie Jawan of Vellimala tells the story of people living in a high range village called 'Vellimala'. A dam situated at Vellimala is considered as a sign of pride by the villagers. Gopi Krishnan (Mammootty) who dons the lead character reaches the village as a labourer in the dam. He worked with the military service from where he had taken voluntary retirement. Varghese (Sreenivasan) an executive engineer at the dam site and Koshi Oommen(Asif Ali) are the main characters in the movie. Anita (Mamta Mohandas), a project officer at the dam site is much keener in contributing her part for the development of the society. While the main characters and villagers come together, the movie moves to the next extend revealing various incidents. Debutant Niyona, Sunil Sugath, Sadhiq, Kottayam Nazir will play other characters in the movie.




The shooting of the movie will be done at various locations in Thrissur, Thodupuzha and Peerumedu. The script of the movie is by James Albert who has shown his caliber with his pen while the lyrics have been written by Anil Panachooran, Santhosh Varma and Venugopal. Anoop Kannan who worked as an associate director with Lal Jose is up with his debut movie 'Jawan of Vellimala' which is set to release on 6th July 2012.

Mammootty who had a successful 2011 will have a bunch of movies in 2012 too. Mammootty will be seen in movie Thappana Johny Antony. Charmi and Murali Gopi will be playing the other leading characters in the movie. The movie 'Thappana is set as an Onam release in 2012. The other movies announced for 2012 will be Black Investigators, Pick Pocket, Gangster and Balyakalasakhi.
