Prasanth Parameswaran will play for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2012. This left-handed arm seamer from Kerala will play for RCB in this season replacing S Aravind. Prasanth was a part of Kochi Tuskers in IPL 2011 season.
Prasanth Parameswaran, the Kerala left-arm bowler has been included in the team squad of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the 2012 season of IPL as a replacement for S Aravind due to a knee injury. In a statement the owner of Royal Challengers Bangalore Sidhartha Mallya said ""We are happy with the induction of Parameswaran in our squad. He will boost our bowling resources during the most critical phase of the ongoing tournament."
Prasanth Parameswaran attended the Kochi Tuskers Kerala (KKR) team as a supporter for their net practice section. KKR chief Geoff Lawson was much impressed with his talent and selected him to play for the team. Getting a chance to be in the playing 11, Prasanth took the wicket of Virender Sehwag in his debut spell against the Delhi Daredevils. He took one more wicket which made him the player of the match. He also became the first player from Kerala to win the Man of the Match award in IPL debut. But he had to suffer in the match against Royal Challengers as Chris Gayle hit him for 37 runs in a single over.
Prasanth Parameswaran started his cricket career by playing for the CMS College Kottayam while studying in college. Later he joined St.Albert's College, Kochi where he got better training. He was trained by Ranji coach P. Balachandran which brought rapid changes in his performance. He became a part of the Kerala cricket team for the Ranji Trophy. He was later selected by Indian Overseans Bank Chennai to play for them in the TNCA cricket league. His high ambitious and consistent performances lead the selectors to pick him for South Zone cricket team which played the Duleep trophy and Deodhar trophy competitions. Currently he is working with Indian Overseas Bank, Chennai as an officer.
There are only 3 other Keralites other than Prasanth who have been included in various IPL teams this year. They are S.Sreesanth, Raiphi Gomez and Sanju Samson. Even though any of them have got a chance yet to play in IPL 2012, we can expect that as the matches reach the final stage, all 4 would be able to get on field to show their talent.
Prasanth Parameswaran opened his IPL debut in 2012 for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Deccan Chargers where he took 1 wicket for 45 runs. He took the crucial wicket of Cameron White at his individual score of 45 runs.
