Santhosh Trophy 2012 - Kerala wins the first match against Tripura

Kerala team starts their winning journey in 66th national Santhosh trophy football tournament. In the first play held on 11th May 2012 against Tripura brings a fabulous win for Team Kerala. Kerala team defeat Tripura by the score 4-0. The first win against comparatively easy team may not give much hope in the entire tournament, anyhow the play gave a well start for team Kerala in 66th national Santhosh trophy football tournament.


Striker Usman, Firos and Kannan are the score goals for the winning team. Usman striked two times goal against Tripura.Even though the team won the first match by four goal, some question arises about the future journey of team Kerala in forth coming matches. The team often failed to play as a good team combination in the first match. In the first half players tried to strike goal with out looking the position of the opponent players or the goal keeper that lead to missing of number of goals for Team Kerala. Kerala team got eight corners in the first half itself. But all the corners taken by the attacking midfielder Surjith was missed by other players in front of goal post. Anyhow in midfield, Muhammad Rasi and Rahul played well and Surjith had done beter.

Tripuara's played without any seriousness sticking with defense which give a chance for Kerala to lead attack into their goal face. The first goal came in the last minutes of first half. The ball which was striked by the goal keeper Captain Joby joseph, was taken by Usman from the middle of ground and he placed the ball into the post. In the second half Kerala team speed up their attacking in the spirit of the first goal. This lead to the next goals from substitute Firos in the 20th minute of second half, and in the 25th minute the second goal of Usman and in the 41th minute from Vineeth. Through this win Kerala team enter the first place of point table in the Cluster 2. Team Kerala's next play is against Himachal Pradesh on 15th May 2012. We can hope better win in the match by rectifying the mistakes done on the previous match. According to Kerala coach,the team have to better more from this position. He adds that the team is able to reach the final if they play even more better in the area of attacking, and mid field. We have to face much tough team in the quarter league, so the current status of team should be improved lot to bring the win in the forth coming matches.

In the other matches held in the 66th national Santhosh trophy tournament on 11th may 2012, Jharkhand, Chandigarh and Karnataka secured win. We can hope better performance from the other team too in the great tournament. The football fans do miss the live streaming of the Santhosh trophy in the TV channel.
