Melanie Kannokada Actress – Profile and Biography

Melanie Kannokada is an actress and model born to malayali parents Suresh Kannokada and Sujatha. Even though born and brought up in the United States, Melanie has unforgettable memories about Kerala which she visited 4 or 5 times. Melanie was crowned as the Miss Indian America in 2007. She had her schooling in US and has studied mechanical engineering at the Stanford University. During her school days Melanie had a passion over martial arts forms especially Shotonkan Karate which eventually gave fame representing the United States junior karate team at the Pan- American Games (Junior).



Melanie is a unique personality who is embodied with talents which others can get inspired. Other than keeping interest in martial arts, she had a passion over playing tunes on the Piano, captaining the cheerleader's team, member of the Cardinal cheerleading squad and being the student body president while in school. Things turned right for Melanie when she won the Miss India America title in 2007. This triumph gave her lot of opportunities including few assignments in modeling. She worked with the McKinsey & Co as a management executive. Melanie didn't stick onto her job as she wanted to concentrate more in the fascinating world of acting and become a showbiz.

Melanie has worked as model with some of the major corporate conglomerates like Nescafe, Verizon, Glamour Magazine, P&G, Crocs, Acura, Herbal Essences, LG, DSW, and Verizon. She also had appeared in CBS hit sitcom Rules of Engagement, NBC's The Nine Lives of Chole King and Parenthood. Just recently Melanie was selected as one among the five faces of Bare Escentuals international "Be A Force of Beauty" campaign. She is also the co-founder of a non profitable organization 'Hospital of Hope' which is focusing on the construction of a hospital in India for the poor people. Being an active philanthropist, Melanie had been a part of various charity events too.

Melanie is thrilled to get an opening in an Indian film –Love, Lies and Seeta in which she plays the character role of Seeta and Indian girl, adopted by American parents. While sharing her acting experience in the movie, Melanie found no difficult as she was familiar with the Indian culture. It is known that Melanie is interested to do movie in south India due to her deep connection its way of life. Melanie finds more hopes in her upcoming movie Love, Lies and Seeta which already had earned appreciation at The Indian International Film Festival (2012) in Florida. The movie is expected to release on 18th May 2012 across India.
