Radhakrishnan was born on 29 August 1949 at Irinjalakuda in Thrissur district. He completed his primary studies in ' National Higher Secondary School, Irinjalakuda. Radhakrishnan completed his schooling in National Higher Secondary School, Irinjalakuda. He got graduation in B.Sc degree in Electrical Engineering from the Government Engineering College, Thrissur in 1970 which is under Kerala University. He completed his PGDM at Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM) in 1976. He got Doctorate from IIT Karagpur in 2000 for his work ' Some Strategies For Indian Earth Observation System'.
He started his career as an avionics engineer in Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre , Thiruvananthapuram (VSSC). He also held the important positions for International level as Vice chairman of intergovernmental oceanographic commission, chairman of the working group of the whole UN-COPOUS STSC. He was the president of Indian Society of Remote Sensing during the years 2007 to 2009 and Vice President of Indian Geophysical Union during 2007 to 2009. now he is the president of Astronautical society of India.Awards and Honours recieved

He enjoys Karnatic music very much and a kathakali enthusiast. He had performed many dance and vocal performances during his school days. He is a great gift for Irinjalakuda town and kerala state.
