Malayalee's can be proud of an Indian International goal keeper - Victor Manjila, the former goal keeper of India and captain and goal keeper of Kerala football team who hails from Kozhikode. He represented Kerala in 1971 to 1979. When Kerala won the Santhosh Trophy football in 1973,he was also in the team. Manjila has also done a successful job as the captain of Kerala football in Santhosh Trophy football 1975. He played for India as a goal keeper in 1976 and 1977 President's Cup at South Korea and Kings Cup at Bangkok.
After the successful career in Indian football he took retirement and got trained in Calicut University for several years. He helped the University to take back the South Zone Inter University football title in 2005 after 9 years. When 1993 Kerala won the second Santhosh Trophy Manjila was the team coach of Kerala.
