What is SET exam?


SET is nothing but the State Eligibility test which is conducted by LBS Centre for Science and Technology of Kerala on behalf of the Kerala Government. Kerala Government is conducting this exam, in order to appoint the talented staffs and thus in turn to enhance the educational quality in Kerala state. Through this exam both Higher Secondary School Teachers and Non-Vocational Teachers will be selected. People, who have accomplished master degree and B.Ed degree successfully can able to apply for this exam along with certain exceptions. People from other states of Kerala can also apply for this exam.

Eligibility Criteria for Kerala SET Exam 2012


Candidates should hold atleast 50% marks in the Master degree and B.Ed degree from the approved university colleges. SC/ST people can enjoy 5% relaxation, so minimum edibility criteria for them are 45%.

Note: People of any age can apply for this exam and that is the specialty of this exam.

Kerala SET Exam application fees


For People form Kerala:
• Rs. 750 - for general candidates
• Rs.375 - for SC/ST/VH/PH candidates

For non-Kerala People:
• Rs.800- for general candidates
• Rs.425/- for SC/ ST/VH/PH candidates
Paid fees will not be returned again.

How to apply for SET exam?


Applications are made available from 2nd July, 2012. Candidate, who would like to register for SET exam through online, can make use of either www.lbskerala.com or www.lbscentre.org link. In order to fill the online form, you will be asked to enter the "application number" and "site access key". These details can be obtained only by procuring the application from the respective post offices of Kerala. To know the list of post offices, where SET application forms can be acquired, http://lbskerala.com/menu/set/set2012/list of_head_post_offices_in_ker.htm link will assist. Last date for SET exam registration through online is 31st July 2012 and should apply within 3pm. Offline application forms should be delivered within 5pm of 31st July, 2012. SC and ST candidates should enclose their community certificate with the application form.

Once the registration has been completed, you will be offered with the application number and registration ID, which you should keep safe for the future access.

Hall ticket: Online hall tickets will be made available from 20th September, 2012. Exam will be conducted of 30th September, 2012.

Two Papers: Candidates have to perform two tests such as paper I and paper II.

Paper I: This paper is to ensure about the skill of the candidate. This paper is divided into two sections such as part A and part B. Part A will be comprised of General knowledge questions and Part will be comprised of aptitude questions.

Paper II: This paper is also common for all applicants but the question paper will vary based on the specialization area of the candidate, which denotes their PG degree. 35 subjects are included for second part. http://www.lbskerala.com/menu/set/set2012/syllabus.htm

Mark allocation: Each paper carries 120 questions and for each correct answer one mark will be allocated. In II paper, only Mathematics/Statistics section will be comprised on 80 questions and 1.5 marks will be allocated for each right answer. Duration of exam is 120 minutes (2 hours). For each wrong answer 1/4th of allocated mark will be reduced.

Note: Since negative marks will affect your total, try to answer only the known questions.

Pass Criteria: You have to secure minimum 35% in each paper. Aggregate percentage should be of minimum 50%..
Aggregate mark will be calculated based on the following formula:
[(Marks secured for (Paper I + Paper II) / Maximum marks for (Paper I + Paper II)] X 100

Important things to be kept in mind while going for SET exam


• Only candidates, who having appropriate admit card will be allowed to write exam.
• Don't carry any papers other than admit card and avoid taking cell phones to the exam hall.
• Fill the OMR sheet without any overwriting and shade the correct option fully.
• Reach the exam hall before 30 minutes of exam time.
• Don't try to do any malpractices in exam hall, as you will be strictly punished.

Answers for 2012 SET questions will be published on online on 3rd October, 2012. You can cross check the answers, to ensure your name in the selected candidate list. You can expect the result on 5th November, 2012. This is the tentative date, so you can get the result either within this date or above this date.
