What is C-TET?


C-TET is the abbreviation of central teacher eligibility test. This exam is referred to bring national standards and bench mark for newly recruited teachers in central government schools. CTET exams are the eligibility criteria made by central government for newly teacher applicants to join in 1 to 8 classes. For the appointments of teachers in schools under central government, Navodaya, and schools under central administrative places like Chandigarh, Andaman etc have fulfill the eligibility criteria by pass in CTET exam. For the appointment of State government/ aided/ unaided schools can be use this eligibility test if it necessary. National council of teacher education has giving guidelines for this exam. After the result CTET has the seven years of validity. In Kerala CBSE is being conducting the CTET Exam on November 18. Examination centers are spread in Kochi, Kozhikkod and Thiruvananthapuram.

What are the eligible criteria for applying CTET


For eligibility in applying CTET examination candidate should have following educational qualification as given below.

Minimum Educational Qualifications for becoming Teacher for Classes I-V (Primary Stage)
  • Candidates should have passed in Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
    OR
  • Candidate should have passed in Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.
    OR
  • Candidates should have passed in Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
    OR
  • Candidates should have passed in Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*.
    OR
  • Candidates should have passed Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).


Minimum Educational Qualifications for becoming Teacher for Classes VI-VIII (Elementary Stage)
  • Candidates should have Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
    OR
  • Candidates should have Graduation with minimum of 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
    OR
  • Candidates should have Graduation with minimum 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
    OR
  • Candidates should have passed in Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
    OR
  • Candidates should have passed in Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed/B.Sc.Ed.

  • Candidates should have Graduation with minimum 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)*


Pattern of CTET examination


The CTET exam is having objective type question paper with multiple choices. There will not be any negative mark for wrong answers. There will be 2 papers in CTET exam. Paper I is for the applicants who intended to join in class I to V. Paper II is for the applicants who intended to join in class VII to VIII. Time table for CTET exam 2012


The Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi has been conducting the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) for a person to be eligible for join as a teacher for classes I to VIII on 18.11.2012. Candidates should apply On-line for CTET-NOV 2012 on CBSE/CTET website. Time table of CTET is as follows.
  • 18.11.2012 PAPER - I 10.30 TO 12.00 HOURS 1.30 HOURS
  • 18.11.2012 PAPER - II 13.30 TO 15.00 HOURS 1.30 HOUR


Fees for CTET exam 2012


The candidate should remit the fee through Demand Draft in favour of the Secretary, Central Board of Secondary Education drawn in any Nationalized Bank payable at Delhi. Candidate should write their Registration Number, Name, Address, and Mobile/Telephone Number on the back of the Demand Draft. For General/OBC candidate should remit Rs.500 for single paper while remit - Rs.800/ for both the paper. For SC/ST/Diff. Abled candidate should remit Rs.250 for single paper while remit Rs.400 for both paper.

How to apply CTET 2012


Candidates can apply online for CTET exam by accessing following websites www.cbse.nic.in or www.ctet.nic.in. The candidate should duly fill all the details in online application form before submission. After the submission candidates are required to take a print out of the computer generated Confirmation page which has to be sent to CBSE, CTET Unit, after affixing a passport size photograph and signature in the space provided, along with the Bank Draft. The application should reach the CBSE office on or before 07.09.2012 for eligibility in appear in CTET exam.
