The year 1965 saw the birth of Bethany St. Johns English Medium upper primary school with 33 children. Later in the year 1971, the school was upgraded to high school. On July 23, 2002 Bethany St. Johns English Medium School got the permission to start higher secondary section with 60 students.
The fame and prosperity of Kunnamkulam can be measured with the yard stick of Bethany St. Johns English Higher Secondary School. The school shines brightly in the annals of this ancient town known for its traditional glory and cultural heritage. Bethany school is located in a very healthy campus about 10 acres of land with natural beauty and bio-diversity. Even though the school is situated in Kunnamkulam, one of the busiest places in Kerala, the campus is quite peaceful and serene. School is situated just a half kilometer from the Kunnamkulam town. The entire campus looks like an 'ashram' though it is only a part at the corner. The buildings are ideally scattered in the vast campus.
