Ajmal in search of 'Paalathil Aashan', the next Robin Hood
Paalathil Aashan is a malayalam short film conceptualized by G R Indugopan, a well known malayalam writer. Having an experience of lending his face for two short films, Ajmal Muhammed kicks in for yet another venture tiled as 'Palathil Aashan'. What is the magnetic force which makes an individual pool into the film industry – the dream world of entertainment? 'Palathil Aashan' is also such a conceptual theme which gives a chance for few friends to show their love for each other. Worked on the story written by G R Indugopan, a group of 5 who had heartfelt bondage right from the schooldays is stepping forward with Cinemascope, a joint venture which is on the winning track producing 'Palathil Aashan' after getting noticed for "Gathi-the path"and "Neypayasam", both getting noticed online and also at college festivals. The trailer of this 13 minute length short film has already hit 'You Tube', just hinting about the title character. Leaving no clues to the viewers making them bit their nails for few more days before it gets released on 10th November.
The plot of 'Palathil Aashan' is much related to a controversial bridge, which stays as a bridge between the poor and the rich. A mysterious character known as 'Palathil Aashan' who is believed to exit on the bridge who initiate to attack and rob people. So people living near the village feel feared to walk across the bridge keeping in mind of the person known for his action as a Robin Hood and who disappears from the spot in less time.
As the villagers have heard a number of stories connected with Palathil Aashan, it's well difficult to sort whether the character exits. The physical structure of the bridge having opening at two ends enclosed like a cage looks scary in its first appearance.
'Paalathil Aashan' opens featuring Jose (Ajmal Muhammed), a construction worker who had to cross the bridge in focus as he had to reach the other side to lead the concreting process of a building next day. As Jose had not come across the bridge ever in his life, he was carrying the stories connected with 'Palathil Aashan' heard from his friends. Before his walk through the bridge, Jose wished to have a drink from a nearby alcohol store.
During his stay in the bar Jose happens to meet Balan (Karthik). During their talk, Jose conveyed his intention of crossing the bridge and shared his thoughts regarding the bridge he has heard. Balan tries to make Jose calm assuring him full safety and will accompany him on the way. After leaving the bar, both Jose and Balan talks constantly about 'Aashan' and convinces other not to be scared about him as he doesn't exist. As both enter the bridge, something unusual happened. Has they smelt the presence of 'Aashan'? Rest is the suspense of the story which is currently unboxed. Triggering up for a release from a week time the team behind 'Palathil Aashan' is riding high as they are confident about the making of the project. Other than Ajmal and Karthik, Akhil Sivadasan, Sonu Varghese will be donning the main characters in the film. Karthik too has an experience with camera for showing his talents in 'Neypayasam' and Oru Phone Call by Vishnu Udhayan.
The screen play, cinematography, production and even direction is being handled by 'Cinemascope' a venture formed by 5 colleagues who studied in St.Thomas Central School.Trivandrum which include Aneesh Gopakumar, Mahesh K.G, Srijith Rajendran, Arjun Venugopal and Karthik S.D. Sohil Menon has also joined the team for bringing the project a success. The background score set by Abhilash Gopakumar stands unique with its outstanding sagacity merged with the theme of the film. The editing is safe in the hands of Sreedhar venugopal who has an experience with a couple of previous cuts. The team adopted day for night technique using a Nikon D5100DSLR and a Canon 550 DSLR to finish the shoot of 'Palathil Aashan'. Shot at Marathoorkadavu near Attunkal, the shooting was wrapped in 3 days.
The dubbing and sound mixing of Palathil Aashan was done at Ammu Digital studio while the background score mixing was completed by Vinu. Sound effects were carried out by Real Effects bringing up their best for Palathil Aashan. The title design of the film was worked by Ganadev Prajapathy. The posters designed by Sarat Insigna and Jobin had an alluring feel which had already being appreciated by the online community.
