Oommen Chandy was born on 31 October 1943 in Kumarakom, he is an kerala politician for the Indian National Congress Party.Oommen was the Chief Minister of Kerala from 2004 to 2006, and he's represented the Leader of the opponent in the Kerala legislature since 2006.

Fontly known as by his loyal followers as Kunjoonju,Oommen Chandy was born to K.O.Chandy and Baby Chandy in a Syriac Jewish-Orthodox family. Personifying by admirers and faithful family members he's as well a unionist and channelizes a lot of INTUC associated outfits.

Gestated in an wellborn,wealthy family at Puthuppally,Oommen Chandy is married to Mariamma Oommen, with 1 son and 2 daughters.Chandy adventured into the political sphere as an activistic of Kerala Students labour union (KSU), the student extension of the political party. He was the unit chairman from KSU at Saint George senior high school, Puthupally and came on to become the State chairman of the governing body .He completed his college educational activity from CMS College, Kottayam, SB College, Changanassery .Later he acquired a baccalaureate in law (Bachelor of Laws) from Government Law College, Ernakulam.

Chandy commenced his governmental life history through with the Kerala Students Union (KSU), which he attended as chairperson from 1967 to 1969. He was choosen as the president of the State Youth Congress in 1970. He served as government minister for Labour from 11 April 1977 to 27 October 1978 in A.K. Antony ministry. When K. Karunakaran-led Congress ministry inherited major power in 1981, Chandy got the government minister for Home from twenty-eight Dec 1981 to seventeen Mar 1982.Oommen Chandyfunctioned as government minister for labour and housing (1977–78), home minister (1981–82) and finance minister (1991–94).Oommen Chandy represented Puthuppally Constituency for the last forty years. Elected to Kerala legislature in 1970, 1977, 1980, 1982, 1987, 1991, 1996, 2001 and 2006.

Oommen Chandy was premised by A.K. Antony as the chief minister of kerala during 2004-2006 and followed by V. S. Achuthanandan
