Puthuvypu Beach, Kochi

Puthuvypu Beach is one of the serene beaches of Kochi. This beach is very much near to the Puthuvypu Light House. The beach extends about three kilometers. This is a silent beach in compared to the other beaches in Kochi and having fewer crowds. So it is a perfect place for the tourist who needs some solitude and wants to enjoy the unexpressive beauty of the blue sea with out any disturbance.

Puthuvypu Light House, Kochi

Puthuvypu Light House in Kochi is the tallest Light House in Asia. The height of this light house is 150 feet. This light house is a guide for the ships traveling through Kochi and for the local fisherman boats. This light house will provide the light four times in every twenty seconds. This is a warning signal to the sailors, they reached the Queen of Arabian Sea. This great Light House was established in 1979 and this comes under the ministry of ship transport assembly of Central Government.

We can have an extended view of Kochi from the top of this light house. It reveals the outline beauty of Kochi at a stretch. The entry to this light house is only from 3 pm in the evening to 5 pm. So visitors have to plan their trip according to that. The ticket charges are rated from the gateway itself. Camera is not allowed inside the light house for security reasons. Puthuvypu Mahavishnu Temple is another tourist destination which is only one and half kms from the light House.

Accessing Puthuvypu Light House

Tourists who are reaching Kochi can certainly have an easy access to the beach as well as light house. They are situated just 7 kms away from the main city. Get down at Puthuvypu junction, turn left and head towards Puthuvypu Vishu Temple, which is just 2 kms away. The Light House is just opposite to the temple.

- The entry fees for the light house is as per the followimg
Adults: Rs. 10
Children: Rs. 5
Foreigners: Rs. 25
- Still and Video cameras are not allowed in the Light House for security reason. So don't bring them
- Footwears, Umbrellas, Sticks, bags etc should be kept outside. You can gave it to the Keeper outside
- Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the light house and the visitors are not allowed to stay around.
- Beware of the wild Bees on the top of the Light House
