Hill Palace, Kochi Hill Palace was once the official residence of the erstwhile Kochi Kings, (Perumbadap Swaroopam). Now it is the largest archeological museum in Kerala. The palace is popularly known as Hill Palace since it is situated in a hill of thrippunithara. This beautiful palace is just 13 kms away from the main city of Eranakulam. When you enter inside the palace, you will a large stepped garden with full of plants and flowers. There are also many medicinal and old trees conserved here.
Attractions in Hill Palace, Kochi Hill Place of Thrippunithara is the largest archeological museum in Kerala and so as the palace have a wide collection of ancient materials. Even when we enter inside the room, we will have a historic feeling. We are just putting our foot to places where the ancient great kings of Thrippunithara palace ruled the kingdom. It is certainly a majestic feeling.
There is a also a big elephant shrine in the entrance which is also the prime attraction in te Hill palace. This gigantic sculpture was designed my a designer named Kunjachan Asari from Thrissur and it was presented to the king of Thrippunithara. This event was happened in the 19th century. The Palace also have some remains of Old Kingdom materials such as old coins, swords of the kings, other weapons etc.
Accessing Hill Palace, Thrippunithara Hill Palace is situated near Thrippunithara. The nearest Airport available is Kochi International Airport and Ernakulam being the nearest Railway station. The Palace is just 13 kms from the city via Vytilla Junction. Catch a bus to Chottanikkara temple and get down at Hill Palace. Tourist cars are also available from the city.
Tips for the Tourists - Fetch a pass before entering the Palace campus. - Palace remains closed on Mondays and remaining holidays. - Entry timing is 9.00AM to 12.30 PM and 2 PM to 4.30 PM. - Entry from 4.30 PM to 6 PM is permitted only to the children's park. - Entry Fee: Adults- Rs. 20, Children- Rs.10 - Using camera inside the palace is strictly prohibited - Parking Fees: Mini Bus, Tempo- Rs.30, Car, jeep, Auto- Rs.20, Two wheelers- Rs.5
