Chettikulangara Temple is about 1200 years old and is situated on the state highway No 6 that is kayankulam - Thiruvella highway. The temple has about 13 karas or the territories and is placed at the center of the oldest of Karas, namely, Erezha South, Erezha North, Kaitha South and Kaitha North. The other karas are Kannamangalam South, Kannamangalam North, Pela, Kadavoor, Anjilipra, Mattam North, Mattam South, Menampally and Nadakkavu and all these karas surround the Chettikulangara Temple.

The image of Bhadrakaali is drawn in the kalamezhuthu. The goddess is brought out from the Sreekovil for the kuruthi Ritual. Kuruthi is a special offering at the temple and many of the devotees come to take part in this ritual. How to Reach XChettikulangara Bhagavathy Temple You will have to Reach either Kochi International airport at Nedumbassery which is 120 kilometers away from the temple. Likewise Thiruvananthapuram International airport is also located at about 120 kilometers away from the temple. From Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram you can travel either by train or by road to Mavelikkara Railway station which is just 5 kilometers from the temple.The temple is located at about 8 kilometers away from the NH47 in the Kayankulam-mavelikkara route. Private and state transport buses ply regularly in the Mavelikkara - Kayankulam route even late in the nights.
