The Malayalam movie "Celluloid" is set to release by mid of February 2013. The story of this movie is based on the life of J.C. Daniel, the first man to make a film from Kerala. The movie features Prithviraj Sukumaran in the male lead role and Mamta Mohandas and Chandini in the female lead roles. The title “Celluloid" is very well suited for this biopic as it itself brings out an idea about what the film is all about. The movie is all set to release by the mid of February 2013. The movie "Celluloid" tells us the story of J.C Daniel, father of Malayalam Cinema and about P.K Rosy, the first heroine in Malayalam. J.C Daniel (Jivanayakam Cyril Daniel Nadar) was the first man to make a film from Kerala. His first movie was "Vigathakumaran" and he himself has directed, produced, photographed, wrote, edited and acted in this movie. The Travancore National Pictures, the first film studio in Kerala was also established by J.C Daniel. For all these he had to suffer lot of hardships in life. Still he did not get any appreciation or recognition for his first silent movie. In short the movie is on Malayalam cinema and talks about the life of J.C Daniel and P.K Rosy.

P.K Rosy was the first Malayalam heroine and her first film was "Vigathakumaran". She belonged to a lower caste and was a coolie. Rosy accidentally became the heroine in this film as during those days there were not many ladies who would take up acting. The movie explains why both J.C Daniel and P.K Rosy did not get any recognition and how hard they have struggled. After watching this movie we all will get to know the pains and sufferings they had overcome. Pritviraj Sukumaran plays the role of J.C Daniel and Mamta Mohandas appears as Janet, wife of J.C Daniel. Through this film, director Kamal introduces a new face, the young and beautiful Chandini. She is a great singer and was one of the contestant for the reality show "Josco Indian Voice" telecasted in the channel Mazhavil Manorama. Chandini is appearing in the role of P.K Rosy. It is a coincidence that the new actress Chandini plays the role of the first heroine in Malayalam cinema. Sreenivasan, Siddique, Irshad, Nedumudi Venu, Thampi Antony, Jayaraj Warrier, T G Ravi, Thalaivasal Vijay etc are appearing in other important roles.

Celluloid MovieThe songs in this movie has a deep feel under the music composition of M. Jayachandran. Enundodi Ambili Chandam… and Katte Katte… are two songs from this movie. Sitara, Vaikom Vijayalakshmi, G. Sreeram etc has given life to these songs through there magical voice. The lyrics is been penned by Rafeeq Ahmad and Engadyoor Chandrashekharan.
