Early Life
Sunil Kumar is popularly know by his stage name Narain. He hails from Thrissur and is born on 7th October 1976 to T.M. Ramakrishnan Nair and Shantha Kumari. He is the only child to his parents. Narain married Manju Haridas, a singer in the year 2007 at Calicut after two and a half years of dating. They have a daughter. Narain, after completing his graduation in Statistics, he has done a course in cinematography at the Adyar Film Institute. Filmography
Narain entered the film industry, after completing a course on cinematography, as an assistant to Rajeev Menon, a cinematographer. He had assisted Rajeev for many advertisements and also in the movie "Morning Raga", directed by Mahesh Dattani. The changeover from a cinematographer to an actor happened during 2002. His debut film was "Nizhalkuthu", directed by the noted director Adoor Gopalakrishnan. In this movie Narain acted as 'Muthu' son of 'Kaliyappan'(Oduvil Unnikrishnan). It was an art film and had won many awards.
In the year 2004, Narain appeared in the movie "4 The People", directed by Jayaraj and that was his first commercial movie. The movie features Bharath, Gopika, Benny Dayal, Kishore, PadmaKumar, Narain, and Pranathi in the lead roles. It is this movie which brought him fame and recognition. Narain played the role of an IPS office in this movie and his acting was well appreciated by the people of Kerala. From then he got opportunities in many films.
"Chithiram Pesuthadi" is Narain's first movie in Tamil. This movie was directed by Mysskin and was released in the year 2006. It is a romantic film featuring Narian and Bhavana in the male and female lead roles respectively. It was the debut Tamil film for actress Bhavana as well. This movie bombed at the box office and that made Narian's way in the Tamil film industry smooth and clear. His wife Manju Haridas has sung a song in this movie.
In the 2005 film "Achuvinte Amma", directed by Sathyan Anthikkad, Narain, Urvasi and Meera Jasmine played the lead roles. Other notable roles of his are in the movies "Annorikal", "Classmates and "Panthaya Kozhi". He is very choosy while selecting films as he believes the story and the content is the backbone of any film.
