As per norms of Kerala University of Health Science (KUHS) for admission for B.Sc. Nursing, the minimum educational requirements include passing the +2 class with 12 years of schoolship with 50% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English. A certificate of Medical Fitness from an authorized Medical Officer with MBBS or higher qualification certifying that the candidate is fit to undergo the course should be submitted before admission to the course. The duration of the programme will be four years.
Students must have to submit the application online through www.amsfnck.com, the official website of the association. The allotment will be prepared based on merit and the marks obtained in the Physics, Chemistry and Biology or equivalent subjects in the qualifying examination. There be will be four rounds of 'online' admissions with centralized personal counseling and admission to fill the vacancies.
Post Basic B.S.c Nursing
The basic requirements regarding the application of the post basic B.Sc Nursing include passing the 3 or 3½ years General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) degree course with 55% aggregate marks from an institution recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC). The candidate should have passed their Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination or Senior School Certificate Examination (10+2), Pre-Degree Examination (10+2) with Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) subjects. Students who wish to apply for the 2014 admission should submit a formal application in accordance with the norms and conditions set by AMSFNCK. The basic requirements include passing the qualifying degree course in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing) with 55% aggregate marks from an institution recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC). A certificate of medical fitness shall be submitted to the principal of the institute before the admission to the course. The candidate should be a registered nurse and registered midwife with the Kerala Nurses & Midwives Council.
The candidate should have minimum one year of experience after basic B. Sc. Nursing in any hospital having minimum bed strength of 100 or in a School/College of Nursing with Community Health Program. A one year compulsory nursing service/internship after successful completion of four year B.Sc. Nursing also can be considered as experience. The duration of the programme will be two years.
