Muthoot Institute of Technology and Science is one among the emerging self financing engineering colleges in Kerala, established in the year 2013 and is run by Muthoot Group which is the famous financial group in India. The college is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi (MG) University Kottayam and has the approval of 'All India Council for Technical Education'(AICTE). MITS provides the best infrastructure and faculties for their students with a view to impart high quality education for them. The campus which sprawled over a 15 acres of land with a built up area of 17500 sq.m is located at Varikoli near the Info Park in Ernakulam district.
Within a short span of time the college established itself as one of the leading institution in Kerala. At present, this institution is managed by 'Muthoot M George Institute of Technology', a section 25 company within the Muthoot group. Dr. S Pushpakumar is the present principle of this glorious institution and is a well experienced person who has earned the hearts of the students here. The college has a well talented and dedicated group of faculties who are working hard for the well being of the students. All faculties here holds M.Tech degree which is one of the main specialty of this institution and will definitely reflects in the careers of their students. Mode of admission in MITS is strictly based on merit. 50% of the total seats offered by the college is based on the centralized allotment from MG University and the remaining 50% is on management and NRI quota. Eligibility criteria for the admission to the college is students should pass in All Kerala Entrance Examination conducted by the government of Kerala and also should pass in plus 2 or equivalent exam with 50% marks for the subjects such as physics, chemistry, mathematics and computer science. 1) Mechanical Engineering - 60 seats :
Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest branch of engineering which deals with the mechanism and functioning of machineries, their designs, construction, production, operation and maintenance. Muthoot institute not technology and science provide a total of 60 seats for this branch with a well equipped and spacious workshop.
2) Civil engineering - 60 seats:
Civil engineering is also an oldest branch of engineering which deals with the construction of engineering structures such as dams, buildings, roads etc. Civil engineers are responsible for many of our present developments. MITS provide a total of 60 seats for this branch with a set of well qualified and experience faculties. Now this branch have wide job opportunities in and outside the country.
3) Computer science and engineering - 60 seats:
Computer science and engineering is a new branch in engineering field which has wide job opportunities and different specialization such as cognitive science, computer information, computer graphics, computer programming, computer networks, computer servicing technology etc. MITS provide a total of 60 seats for this branch with most modern computer lab coupled with high speed internet.
4) Electrical and electronics engineering - 60 seats:
Electrical and electronics engineering is one of the oldest branch of engineering which deals with design, construction and functioning of electrical and electronic equipments. The college provide a total of 60 seats for this branch. Electrical and electronics engineers are responsible for many of our present technologies.
5) Electronics and communication engineering - 60 seats:
This is a new branch in the field if engineering which mainly deals with the study and maintains of electrical circuits. MITS provide a total of 60 seats for this branch with required facilities. Major specialization in Electronics and communication engineering are communication, DSP, biomedical signal processing, image processing and computer vision, instrumentation etc. Top class facilities
Accommodation: MITS have well maintained and seperate hostels for boys and girls to ensure students here a perfect living. Each hostel can accommodate more than 200 students with a maximum of 3 students in each room. All the hostels are well secured and provided with caring wardens, which makes the stay pleasant and help students focus more on their studies. Along with stay the hostel provides a tasty and healthy food for the students. Apart from these the college provide a spacious room in each hostel for watching television and reading books. There is a shuttle badminton court and football court attached to boys' hostel where the students can practice games and do body building exercises.
Library : Muthoot institute of technology and science has a well equipped and computerized library to provide vast knowledge resources for the students. The library maintain more than 50000 volumes of books which include engineering books of different authors, magazines, news papers, journals and different periodicals. All the books are arranged in an ordered and subject wise manner for the quick access and easy retrieval. A specious reading room is also provided in the library itself. Students can avail this facility at any time and can bring the book to home but resubmit before the allotted period.
Transportation: MITS provide good conditioned transporting vehicle for students well as the staff members that connects even the most remote areas of the district. In total MITS owns more than 5 college buses that provide excellent service under the experienced drivers and staffs. The buses are maintained up to date, to ensure safe and convenient ride. More than half of the total students of this college use college buses in the past year.
Canteen: MITS college canteen avails you the healthiest and the tastiest vegetarian and non vegetarian foods. Indian snacks like dhosha, idli, appam, vada, bhajis, bonda all are prepared by the cooks for the satisfaction of students here, valuing hygiene and only charges minimum compared to other food stalls. All the modern facilities are provided in the college canteen with a seating capacity of more than 100 peoples. About the Muthoot Group
