Parambikulam wildlife sanctuary is nestled in a valley between the Annamalai ranges of Tamilnadu and the Nelliyampathy ranges of Kerala.This place is blessed with it's abundant vegetation and wide wildlife. Extending over an area of 285 sq.km , it is one of the most protected place in Western Ghats. The tight protection is the key behind the rich wildlife in the sanctuary. This is one among the rare wildlife sanctuaries in India with a large variety of wildlife and vegetations. There are many species including elephants, tigers, bisons, macaques, deers, panther, horns, turtles, spectacled cobras, antlers and monkeys which are the habitant in this park.
How to reach;
The place can be accessed only by means of road. This place is about 95 km away from Palakkad and 38 km from Pollachi. The nearest town is Pollachi which is in Tamilnadu. The nearest railway stations are the Palakkad railway station(100) km away and the Coimbatore railway station in Tamilnadu, which is 83 km away.
Things to Note
1. Visiting time is from 7am to 6pm.
2. Entry to the sanctuary closes at 4pm.
3. Climate; Sanctuary enjoys a wet tropical climate with temperature ranging from 15°c to 32°c.
4. Alcohols are strictly prohibited.
5. The best time to visit is the early morning and late evening as the chance of spotting animals is more .

The main attractive programs available for the toirists in the sanctuary includes trekking, overnight halt packages, Nature education , Camping in the wild, Day programs. Boat cruise is also available after getting the permission from the authorities in the reservoir. And the other attractions in the sanctuary are Kannimara teak, Tramway, Nature interpretation centre, Salim Ali Bird Interpretation Centre, Salim Ali gallery, Shola forests, lake view point, Parambikulam dam, Thunakadavu dam, Karimala gopuram and Dolmes.

The best time to visit;
It is better to avoid the journey during the monsoon season as the chance of spotting animals will be rare. The best time to visit the wildlife sanctuary is August to February after the monsoon. This is the time when the nature is in the most gifted form with it's lush greenery and dense forests.
