The best actor award has gone to Salim Kumar who has already fixed his niche in the Malayalam cinema industry with his superb comical timing and versatility to do serious roles also with equal panache. The distribution of the film has been handled by Allence Media. Adaminte Makan Abu has been directed by acclaimed debutante director Salim Ahamed. Achieving the National Award for the very first film of direction is not a small matter. This kind of recognition received from his first film itself will definitely his confidence as well as encourage new directors to come out with good scripts. Salim Ahamed had been nurturing the dream of making a film with a story regarding the Hajj pilgrimage and finally he has fulfilled this dream after almost ten years. The film's script is based on real-life incidents where some people were not able to go for Hajj due to financial restrains. The entire story of Adaminte Makan Abu revolves around an old-aged poor Keralite Muslim couple whose only wish is to perform the Hajj pilgrimage. Their financial aspects pose as an obstacle to the fulfillment of this last wish.

Salim Kumar is playing the lead role in Adaminte Makan Abu accompanied by the famous Indian actress cum former model Zarina Wahab as she plays the female lead in the film. Zarina plays the role of Salim Kumar's wife in Adaminte Makan Abu. The supporting cast of Adaminte Makan Abu has experienced actors who play vital roles in the film including Mukesh, Kalabhavan Mani, Jagathy Sreekumar, Mala Arvindan, Nedumudi Venu, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Ambika Mohan, Jaffer Idukki, T.G Ravi and Shashi Kallinga. The songs for Adaminte Makan Abu has been composed by Pandit Ramesh Narayanan and the background music, for which the film got a National award, has been handled by Isaac Thomas Kottukappali. The lyrics for the songs have been penned by Rafeeq Ahmed. The cinematography of the film has been handled by renowned choreographer Madhu Ambat who also received a National award for his excellent camera works in Adaminte Makan Abu.

Problems faced by Malayalam movie Adaminte Makan Abu before release


In spite of winning State awards and National awards, Adaminte Makan Abu faced a lot of hurdles before the film finally got the permission to release in the theatres.Salim Kumar and Zarina Wahab In the beginning of June, just when the film was about to release, it became prey to accusations from a tele-serial director Abbas Kalathod who claims that the story of Adaminte Makan Abu has been stealed from a short film called Maruppacha which was done by Abbas few years ago. Another obstacle that Adaminte Makan Abu faced was when the producer Ashraf Bedi accused Salim Ahamed for not mentioning his name in the producer list for the film before it was sent to the National Film Award Committee. All these problems made the court issue a stay order on the release of the film. The latest news reports say that Adaminte Makan Abu is slated for a remake in Hindi version with popular actor Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role of Abu. The film will be directed by Karan Johar under the banner of Dharma Productions.
