2012 Yuva Mastermind: Last Date For Submitting Applications 20 July 2011
The students of schools & colleges of Kerala are given a golden opportunity by Malayala Manorama to participate in the Yuva Mastermind. This contest is for finding the future scientists from Kerala state situated in India. The last date for submitting entries are 20 July 2011. The objective of this contest is mainly for providing a common platform for bringing the young creative minds across the Kerala state. By creating such contests, the interest of students towards science & technology will definitely increase. The other point is to make the mind of people in a positive attitude towards research & innovating science & technology. So this is a good platform for the future scientists of our country. Mainly these contests are done through financial as well as technical support & competition. For the Yuva Mastermind 2012, the technical partner is Amal Jyothi College Of Engineering, Kanjirappally . Remember that the financial support is mainly given for new projects only. The project must be demonstrated by means of a working model. Apart from funding, some additional benefits will be given for the chosen projects which includes exhibition of selected projects, highlighting the projects in Padipura/Yuva of Malayala Manorama daily & cash prices. Who can participate for this contest & what is the procedure?
In the school level, students studying in the 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th standrads irrespective of curriculum or medium can participate while for college students those from Arts & Science Colleges/ Engineering Colleges/Polytechnics/ITC/ITI/Professional Institutions can participate in the contest. For a project team there must be a maximum of 3 students & 1 project guide provided the guide must be from the same institute. An institute can provide more than 1 team to participate in the contest but the teams should present different projects. First you have to register the details of your project & then an expert committee will scrutinize the project based on certain factors.Since there are school & college levels, 25 projects each will be selected. The selected projects must be completed within 3 months. For school & college levels, Rs 7500 & Rs 10000 will be given as financial help respectively. The progress of the work will be monitored by the reports submitted by the team & by the on-site visit by the monitoring committee members. The first, second & third prize winners in the college level will be given Rs 1 lakh, Rs 60000, Rs 40000 & for school levels it will be Rs 50000, Rs 30000 & Rs 20000 respectively.
