Haj 2011 - Haj Camp in Kerala Started

The Haj camp for the pilgrims selected under the Haj committee for the year 2011 (Hijra 1432) was inaugurated by Mr.P.K.Kunhalikutty, State Minster for Industries on 25th day of September 2011.

8,345 pilgrims were selected for Haj under State Haj committee in the year 2011. Most of the pilgrims are selected from Calicut and Malappuaram districts. 2433 pilgrims from Calicut district and 1850 from Malappuram were selected which consists of 4 children.

The first flight is scheduled to be on 29th September and the last flight will be on 15th of October. In between these dates Saudi Airlines will have 27 services to Saudi Arabia. The flights are scheduled to arrive Madeena not to Mecca; so that the specified dress for the pilgrim named Dress of 'Ihram' will not needed at the time of journey. One week they will be stay in Madeena and then they pass to the Holly land of Muslim, Mecca. In Mecca the pilgrims will be in 'Ihram' up to complete the Haj. They will return to Calicut after the haj from King Abdul Asees Inter National Airport's Haj terminal Jeddah.

In this year 41,431 people where applied to Haj under state Haj committee and 6908 elected under the state Haj committee quota and the balance elected under the additional quota of central Haj committee. In this 2807 elected under the consideration who applied for 3 years consecutively and they are not elected yet.3114 elected under the consideration who passed the age of 70 and an helper with him. 987 elected by draw conducted by state Haj committee. Also their 33,438 in the waiting list. Sate Haj Committee elected 20 Haj volunteers to help the pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.

Calicut Airport is not only the embarcation point of the Kerala pilgrims,but also for the Mahi and Lakshadweep pilgrims. Haj cell containing 30 government employees is functional now. And the vaccination facilities are available at Haj house for who not vaccinated yet.

The Haj house is ready for pilgrims and more facilities are available than the last yer State Haj Committee Chairman Mr.P.T.A.Raheem MLA informed the details.
For the Haj camp; cleaning of the surroundings, the clearance of road from Kulathhoor junction to Airport and the work of stalls and media center are all finished.
