IFFI: Urumi, the Malayalam film to open the Indian Panorama Section
The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2011 will be held in Goa next month. The jury for feature films headed by Sai Paranjpye(famous film maker) have selected 23 films for the IFFI 2011 Indian Panorama Section. There is a proud moment for Keralites. Urumi directed by Santhosh Sivan will be opening the Indian Panorama Section of the IFFI 2011. The IFFI 2011 will be held from 23 November 2011- 3 December 2011 at Margao & Panaji cities of Goa.
Urumi, tells the story of Chirakkal Kelu Nayanar, who had a mission to kill Vasco-da –Gama. As most people know Vasco-da-Gama is a 16th century Portuguese explorer. The other Malayalam film for IFFI 2011 is Adaminte Makan Abu directed by Salim Ahamed. We all are familiar with the fact that Adaminte Makan Abu had already won several national film awards & is considered to be the 24th film of Indian panorama. O Maria, a Konkani film directed by Rajendra Talak will be included in the feature film category.
