The Defense Minister AK Antony met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today, to discuss about the issues with Tamil Nadu and Kerala in Mullaperiyar issues. The Defense Minister AK Antony expressed Kerala's needs over the dangerous situation of Mullaperiyar Dam, and compressed the PM for a new Dam instead of 116-year-old Muallaperiyar Dam, is need for the safety of peoplesof Kerala. In this met AK Antony revealed that the Kerala has two demands in Mullaperiyar Dam issues, one is lowering the water level in Mullaperiyar Dam from 136 feet to 120feet, and other demand for the construction of a new Dam instead of 116-year-old Muallperiyar Dam. In which, as part of the immediate safety measure, the first demand is most important and needs sudden action, the highest water level in the reservoir increasing the chances of dangerous situation in Kerala, in case of 22 earthquakes has happened in the nearby region, Kerala peoples feared that another earthquake in this region will affect the safety of Mullaperiyar Dam and will cause serous disaster.
This Mullaperiyar Dam issues raising lot of arguments and fights among peoples in political levels for more than two weeks and also caused some clashes in between Tamil Nadu and Kerala peoples. The Tamil Nadu peoples attacked the Keralitis at Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu yesterdays. For more than two weeks Kerala has been witnessing serious protests by various political parties including a successful human wall announced by LDF, the Kerala peoples included union workers and various organization with out any political influence made a human wall on yesterday, has proved their solidarity in Mullaperiyar Dm issue, the wall formed from Mullaperiyar to Kochi, in which all keralities had joined their hand to raise their needs against Mullaperiyar issues and would be a big success.
The Kerala Assembly met today at Thiruvananthapuram, to discuss the Mullaperiyar Dam issues, discussed about the immediate safety measures and the construction of a new Dam instead of 116-year-old Mullaperiyar Dam. The Dam is located in Kerala's Idduki district but it had been maintaining by Tamil Nadu under a 999 year lease act. As part of the immediate safety measures, in Kerala Assembly met discussed and decided to lowering the water lever in the reservoir from 136 feet to 120 feet. The resolution was passed at the special one day session of the Assembly, and trying to formalize the political agreement in the state on the demand for a new dam construction instead of 116-year-old Mullaperiyar Dam. The debate between Tamil Nadu and Kerala is not helping to make a perfect decision yet. The influence of Prime Minister is needed for this issue.
The Chief Minister Oommen Chandy Said that it was unfortunate the Tamil Nadu Government had not taken any pleasant decision for Kerala in Mullaperiyar Dam. He also said that the Kerala had made it clear its neighbour would continue to get the same level of water after the construction of new Dam and the state was responsible to resolve the issue without in any way compromising its good relations with Tamil Nadu. The Opposite Leader VS Achuthanandan supported the submission.
There are only 11 films in the IFFK competition. And no Malayalam films in Competition films of 2011 IFFK, so 'Aadimadhayantham' and 'Aadaminte makan Abu' are not there in the competition.
