Spanish masala malayalam movie review – Average movie which drags towards the end
Spanish masala malayalam movie review is given here. Director Lal Jose has teamed up with Dileep and Kunchako Boban in his new film Spanish Masala. Austrian beauty Daniel Zacherl is the heroine.
The cast also includes BijuMenon,Vinayaprasad and other foriegn artists.
Expectations
Lal Jose and Dileep came together last time in Mulla which ws a flop at the box office. Since then Lal Jose came hard at us with sensible movies of the genre -Neelathamara and Elsamma Enna Aankutty. The hit maker just had his directorial skills at his disposal when he made those 2 films a hit. Similarly Dileep is riding high on the success and rave reviews he had received for Vellaripravinte Chengathi. So this film was a kind of relay from them. Continuing the success story was definitely on the cards.Cast
Apart from dileep who dons the hero charachter there is a huge support cast in the movie. Kunchacko Boban , Biju menon, Kalaranjini , Vinayaprasad play quite important characters.Movie Review
The movie is a perfect teach pad for anyone who wants to know how a malayalam film if it is set in the foreign countries totally should be made.Lal Jose excels in his direction paving way for another good movie. But the film lacked something that was necessary for a hit. Dileep as usual wins the heart of everyone who watches him portray this normal character. Kunjacko Boban has to be appreciated for the willingness he had shown to feature in a movie which does not portray him as the hero. Particularly when his last 2 films -Sevenes and Doctor Love had been hits in the theatres. [Those 2 films had featured in the list of top 10 highest grossed malayalam films in 2011] Biju Menon is apt for the role and gives a boost to the film with his natural acting skills.
The foreign actress Daniela Zacheri has done her role quite good. She and the other foreign actors have been selected with good judgement from lal jose. But the movie in total disappoints many. The film had a good first half with good comedies. But the second half dragged and the film was too emotional. Something in the familiar Lal Jose Masala was missing in the Spanish Masala. Certain scenes like Dileep laughing at his boss after defeating in chess stands out and the cinematography is good. But Benny .P. Nayarambalam could have made a better script that could have taken the audiences to the end.
Music and the background music is good and Vidya Sagar had done his job well. The camera work in the film was said to be the highlight before. Of course the La Tomatina festival and the red bulls fighting have been captured in the reels. But those shots could have been done better. It is reported that the movie has been shot in a low budget of 6.5 crores. Shooting entirely in Spain at this low cost makes us wonder whether the movie has been compromised in quality. But keeping all aspects apart the movie is an outright average Lal Jose film.
Did you like Arabikatha ? You will like this one. But do not go to the theatres with high expectations.Verdict
Average film – Can be watched.
