The Dr.Somevel Memorial Medical College was founded in 2002 by Dr.Somevel Memorial Mission. It is a self financing institution placed in the district of Trivandrum at Karakonam in southern zone of Kerala. History of Hospital:Karakonam medical hospital was established in 1894 by Dr.Arthur Felly to serve the poor illiterate peoples and to give awareness among the people in village. He struggled to eradicate diseases like malaria, cholera and small pox. This hospital under foreign concern after getting independence Dr.Somevel struggled a lot to improve the hospital and finally he got succeed. Admission: Students can enter through common medical entrance exam of Kerala. 50% of the students are admitted through merit and remaining is through management. 15% of the sets are allotted to the Non- Indian resident students.
