About Matsyafed Aqua Tourism Project Center, Njarakal
Matsyafed has brought about two aqua tourism centers one at Njaraikkal and the other at Malippuram. Njarakkal / Narakkal is the first and a completed project of the Matsyafed and the Milkyway project atMmalipuram is nearing completion. At both places you can have wonderful picnics with your family and friends. They are ideal and perfect for a day's outing. While you are at Malipuram don't miss the speed boat trip along the backwaters at Malipuram.
As soon as you enter the area you will get a welcome drink, after which you can get to whichever side you want to go , that is for fishing and angling, for boating trips.
When you return for lunch you can be sure of getting fish delicacies with a typical Kerala traditional lunch as well as an icecream.
About the Matsyafed Aqua tourism project center, Milkyway, Malipuram
Malipuram center is just 2 kilometers away from here. Eventhough it is not completely ready you can go for Boating through the mangroves. You can also walk along the mangroves instead of boating. You can see fishes jumping around like dolphins, some of them might jump on you or on to the boat making you jump as well.
There are huts placed in between the mangroves , you have a wonderful experiance of having food and taking rest in those huts. If you want to do that, you will have to inform the authorities beforehand. These huts can hold upto 16 persons at a time. You can also hold a small family gathering in the midst of the water.
You can also visit Prawn, Fish and Crab Farm as well as Chappa Beach, which is nearby.
All in all, the visit to the Aqua centers of the Matsyafed Project is an enjoyable and enchanting trip for a day. You can return in the evening your mind full of memories of the day with the fishes.
How to Reach Njarakal and Malipuram Aqua tourism Centers?
You have to reach Kochi from wherever you are travelling from. Njarakal is located at about 10 kilometers from the heart of the Kochi city via Goshree bridges. From the Njarakal hospital you will have to turn into Arattuvazhi Beach Road, it is just 2 kilometers to NjarakalAqua tourism project site.
If you are travelling by bus take a bus to Cherai Beach and get down at Njarakal hospital Junction, get an auto to travel the remaining distance.
The roads to the area will not be comfortable for the big vehicles if you are planning to go as a group, but can be managed. It is easier to travel by small vans and cars than taking a bus to the area.
To reach Malipuram aqua center from the Njarakal tourism site, you will have to travel parrellel to the sea along the beach for about 2 kilometers.
Tips about what all you have to know before going to the Aqua centers
Timing is 9 am to 5 pm
Fee - 150 for adults and 100 for juniors ( with food)
Rs 100 for adults and Rs 25 for juniors ( without food)
Lunch time 12 pm with pass
Fess are the same at both the Aqua Centers.
Dos before you start on the picnic
You have to inform in advance if you need any special fish dishes other than what they prepare.
Boating time about 30 minutes for all passes
If you need more time for Boating, remit extra money according to the duration
For fishing you have to pay Rs 10 for fish hooks.
Wear a life jacket while you go boating
Don'ts to be observed while you are in the site
Smoking and alcohol are prohibited
You are not supposed to bring food from outiside in to the centers
You are not supposed to go for boating without life jackets
Do not throw use and throw plastic covers in the water
