Marayoor is a hill station in the eastern slopes of the Western ghats in the state of Kerala of India. You can find Historical monuments, Sandalwood forests which can give you a relaxing and rejuvenating ecxperience.
Location of the Marayoor Village Marayoor is a village in the rain shadow region of the western ghats located in the eastern slopes at about 40 kilometers from Munnar, a well known Tourist Destination of Kerala as well as India.
Tourists and Travelers to Marayoor Marayoor is the choice of many types of tourists be it honeymooners, students, research and scientific groups as well as for cinema shootings. It is because of the calm and silent atmosphere and ideally located at the foot hills and amidst the beautiful and spectacular sandal wood forests of Kerala. The air in this region is supposed to be medicated in the sense that there are lots of varieties of medicinal herbs and rare species of herbal plants.
How to Reach Marayoor Marayoor is easily reachable from Kerala ( via Munnar) and Tamilnadu as well, from oimbatore and Pollachi through Udumalpet road which goes on to Munnar. Many tourists stop here before going to Munnar or come to the place from Munnar. You can find many ayurvedic facilities available which will help you release you tensions of your city life and rejuvenate yourselves.
There is a mythical story connected with Marayoor that Pandavas came to stay here when they were in hiding in the exile for a year.The Pandava caves and the muniyara ( dwelling places in the rocks, where sages lived) make us believe that. According to history it is said that that the place was a hideout for the tamils who feared trhe wrath of Tippu Sultan when he was on rampage in the area.
