Edappalli Historical Museum is one of the great museums in Kerala which reveals the history of Kerala for the past 2000 years. There will be a show in this museum with its perfect forms and sounds. 87 historical forms with 36 visuals tells the story before you for almost one hour. The visuals mainly include the life of the early people, nannna of Ezhimala, Senguttuvan and elango venmani, Ay Andiran of Pothiyilmala, The Aryan immigration, St Thomas, Sankaracharta, Kulasekhara Alwar, Cheraman Perumal Nayanar, Mar Sapir Iso and Ayyan Adikal Thiruvatikal, Bhaskara arvi vermin and Joseph Rabban, The Devdasisi, Ravi Verma Kulashekara, Vasco De Gama, Mamankam, Kalari, Kunjali Marakkar, The Oath of the Coonan cross, Marthanda Verma, Tipu Sulthan, Kathakali, Revathi Pattathanam, Astronomy in Kerala, Thunjath ramanujan Ezhuthachan, Van Reede and Itti Achuthan, Kunchan Nambiar, Rama Varma Sakthan Thampuran, Velu Thampi Dalava, Swathi Thirunnal, Hermen Gundart, raja Ravi Verma, chattampi swamikal, Sri Chithira Thirunnal and Sir Robert Bristow.

Along with these movie presentations, there is a gallery where the paintings of some great Indian painters are shown. We can also see the some wall paintings and some traditional arts of India. Some world famous paintings starting from Raja Ravi Varma to M F hussain can be seen here. There is also a doll museum near by which contains the collection of variety of dolls from different parts of the world.These dolls are not mere cloth babies, it is a cartoonistic representation of people of India starting from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. Many Indian as well Kerala art forms are played through these dolls which makes it very interesting for the tourists. This is a unique institution in South India which practices these kind of doll arts. This great museum was started by R Madhavan Nair, who was a famous Industrialist.

Informations for the Visitors


The museum will not be open during Mondays and Public holidays. Batches of visitors are admitted to the museum every half an hour starting from 10 am.
Entry Timing:10 am, 11 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm, 4 pm
- each show takes about an hour
- Commentries are both in English and Malayalam
Entry Fees: Rs 100 for adults, Rs 30 for children and students up to10th standard
