Kochi IPL team and the role of Sashi Tharoor
On December 5, the Board of Control for Cricket in India allowed the Kochi franchisee to participate the Indian Premier League from the next season onwards. After restless endeavors of last seven months, finally the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday, December 5, allocated the Koch IPL team to play in the next season of the Indian Premier League. All keralites and especially Kochi sports lovers are very happy and welcoming this glad news. As Mr. Sasi Tharoor told,who was the mentor of the Kochi IPL team, the Government expecting that the permission of the Kochi team would offer betterment in the developments of Kerala. Moreover, Kochi IPL team will play relevant role to boost up Kerala cricket. As results, Kerala Cricket Association hopes that it will be able to host seven IPL matches in next seasons. Also it enhances the feasibilities to promote tourism destinations of Kerala.
Sasi Tharoor played a relevant role in the formation of Kochi IPL Team.
"Today is a good day for sports lovers and those who wish development in Kerala." The former Foreign Minister Mr. Sasi Tharoor said on December 5th after the declaration of BCCI about the approval of Kochi IPL team to play in IPL from 2011 onwards. Sasi Tharoor was a advisor of Kochi IPL team and he was taken precious endeavors to make the Kochi IPL team reality. The controversy which existed in the formation of Kochi IPL team was insisted him to resign his minister position in earlier stages. He was more distressed and confused about delaying the decision about the team formation due to this controversy over its share holding pattern than his position. But now we can understand the happiness on his words.
"Sacrifices for IPL Kochi team worth it" Tharoor who was the mentor of Kochi IPL team said. He also expressed that he is not related in any business part of the team formation. He is the man who was dreamed and focused a team to get approval by BCCI for Kerala. He was also enthusiastic for supporting of the young people in the state who were thrilled in the initial news about a Kochi team formation. He was also expressed in earlier days about his visions and the future developments of the state by formation of IPL team.
He said to media persons after the declaration "Though I had to make some sacrifices, the most important thing is Kerala got the team in the end. That is what I always wished. The recognition will boost development prospects of the state and also promote tourism in a big way". He was also repeatedly said that he is an individual and he doesn't have any role in the business part of its ownership against accusation of IPL commissioner Lalit Modi
Rendezvous Sports World Consortium, which owns the Kochi IPL team, brought some changes in their shareholding pattern and finally BCCI approved it and the controversy ends and Kerala got a team to play IPL from next season onwards.
Anyhow, after several months of hue and cry they succeeded in all the discussions with BCCI to bring Kochi IPL team its reality.
