What is Mobile Portability in Kerala?


Mobile portability is nothing but you can switch Service providers with the same mobile number. More precisely if you are using the number 9995xxxxxx (an air tel number) you can switch the service provider, you can change to any service providers available in Kerala, it can be Idea, Vodafone, BSNL. Remember if you port network you don't have any association with the previous service provider as motioned somewhere in the internet

What you have to do to port your Number..??


  • First you have send a request to the Donor (your current service provider) to port your Number. SMS "PORT" in capitals space "Your Mobile Number" to the number 1900 from your mobile.
  • You get a Unique Porting Authorization Code (just an alphanumeric code) from the donor
  • Then you have to go to the new service provider (network which you are intended to port) the same Proof Documents that you have provided to your previous provider
  • If you are Post paid Customer you have to provide the last paid bill
  • They will issue a application form called" Porting Form".
  • Fill the form with the UPAC number you got from the previous network provider
  • You will get a new SIM pack from the service provider
  • Your service will be activated in 7 days from the date

NB:You have to contact the New service provider within 15 days after getting the UPAC number, UPAC number is only valid for 15 days

Things to Note in Mobile portability Kerala


  • After porting you are a free customer of your new network provider, You don't have anything to do with the Previous one as mentioned some were in the internet
  • If you are a post paid Customer you have to pay the complete bill then only you can port your network
  • If you are prepaid customer, make sure that there is no balance in your mobile phone; you won t get the balance ported.
  • You can switch between CDMA and GSM phones, but you cannot use the same phone for both as CDMA phones are locked in to one operator, so you nee to get a new phone for that
  • Currently you can use the service only in your local area say Kerala; you cannot use the same in Tamil Nadu

Air tel provide you service at Rs 19, you will enter the network as a basic customer not much benefits from air tel
Docomo
Docomo provides you the service at a higher price of Rs 49. You will enjoy the benefit of Rs 10 talktime and 3 months net call to all docomo, virgin at 1ps/6sec
BSNL
BSNL give the service at Rs 19, not much offers
