Idea Star Singer Season 5 grand finale was held on September 24, 2011 at Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium Thiruvananthapuram. The complete show was live Telecasted in Asianet. Idea Star Singer season 5 was started with 39 contestants and shortlisted to 8 best singers to semi – finals. The judges put their best efforts to select the best among best through 14 various stages. Out of this semi finalists, Athira Krishnan,Shaeer and Deepak were eliminated from the show.

The Judging panel for the Idea Star Singer season 5 were filled with the highly talented and experienced musicians like K S Chithra, Sharath, and Anuradha Sriram. The presence of Gaanagandarvan K J Yesudas, Malayalam film super star Pritvi Raj and Laxmi Gopalaswami made the event more colourful. Out of the 5 final contestants, 2 were eliminated after first 2 rounds. The first round was Challenge Round and the second was Favourite Melody Round. Akhil Krishnan and Antony John got eliminated from the grand finale after 2 rounds. Akhil Krishnan was named as the fourth runner up (5 position) of the event and was awarded with certificate and the prize money worth Rs 2 lakh sponsored by the Grand Kerala shopping festival. Antony John secured the third runner up and received his prize money of 5 lakhs sponsored by Ayu Care Kizhi.

Mridula Warrier, Kalpana Raghavendar and Immanuel Henry got selection into the final stage of the event to race for the Idea Star Singer title. The last round was in which the three contestants have to perform their Favourite Song Round. Kalpana performed a Indo-Western fusion and our Gaana Gandharvan K J Yesudas gave a standing ovation along with K S Chithra, and Anuradha Sriram. Befor announcing the result, K J yesudas Inaugurated Idea Star Singer season 6 and opened up the official logo of the Idea Star singer season 6. Then the judging panel for season 6 also announced which includes K S Chithra, M Jayachandran, M G Sreekumar, Anuradha Sriram and Hariharan. A total of 30 singers will fight for the title in season 6.



The second runner up prize was announced by Laxmi Gopalaswami and named Emmanuel Henry. He was awarded with 7.5 lakh worth gold sponsored by Bhima Jewellers . The first runner up was awarded to Mridula Warrier and the announcement was made by Pritvi Raj. She was awarded with 15 lakh worth gold sponsored by Josco Jewellers. Idea Star Singer Season 5 winner, Kalpana Ragavendhra, was announced by Yesudas and winner received Rs.1 crore worth villa sponsored by Travancore Builders. Antony John was selected as the best singer on behalf of Snehaveedu released by Ashirvaad Cinemas by Mohanlal.
