Akhila Bharatha Ayyapa Seva Sanghom Opens 20 camps for Sabarimala Pilgrims
Majority of the people are familiar with the fact that the Sabarimala pilgrim season have started. In different parts of our Kerala state, the Akhila Bharatha Ayyapa Seva Sanghom popularly known as ABASS have started about 20 camps to offer food, drinking water and shelter to the Sabarimala pilgrims. The important fact is that ABASS has already opened camps at Pampa, Nilackal, Erumely and Sannidhanam on 16 November 2011. It was on this day that the Lord Ayyappa Temple was opened for the annual Mandalam-Makaravilakku pilgrim season in Sabarimala. The major camps of ABASS at places like Pampa, Nilackal, Erumely, Sannidhanam, Karimala, Pandalam, Azhutha, Uppupara and Valiyanavattom have started their functioning in full swing. Apart from this, they have also started camps in places like Ranni, Kumily, Pathanamthitta, Thrissur, Kodakara, Guruvayur, Kottayam Medical College Hospital, Chengannur Railway Station, Ernakulam Railway Station and Vandithavalom respectively.
There will be trained ABASS volunteers, who are deployed at Sannidhanam, Appachimedu, Pampa & Neelimala for operating the free emergency stretcher service. This facility will be helpful for transporting the sick pilgrims to the nearest healthcare centre. During the monthly puja period or the pilgrim season, this stretcher service facility will be available at places like Neelimala, Pampa, Appachimedu & Saramkuthi. Apart from this, devotees are also attending the Annadanam offered at ABSS camps daily. The Akhila Bharatha Ayyapa Seva Sanghom has also deployed a special volunteer force at Sabarimala and Pampa for helping the pilgrims. At Nilackal base camp; this ABASS has also opened an automobile workshop in association with the TVS Motors Limited. So by this facility, pilgrims can repair their vehicles.
