Story of Chandragrahan in Hindu religion

Rahu(an asura), Mohini(an incarnation of lord Vishnu), Surya(sun god) and Chandra(moon god) are the main characters of an incident that took place during the churning of an ocean for obtaining amrit. This amrit was cunningly stolen by asuras. The devas then approached lord Vishnu, who took the form of a beautiful girl(ie mohini)and went to the asuras to get back the amrit. The asuras who were attracted by mohini's beauty handed over the amrit to her. Mohini with this amrit returned back to devas and started distributing it. At that time, rahu an asura found that they were tricked by devas. So rahu took the form of a deva and sat in the line between Chandra and Surya for receiving amrit from mohini. But Chandra and Surya realized that rahu was an asura and soon mohini severed the head of rahu. After this, rahu decided to punish Chandra and Surya by periodically engaging in a war with them. It should be noted that lunar eclipse or chandragrahan takes place when this rahu swallows moon and at the same time when rahu gobbles up sun, suryagrahan takes place.
