Introduction
Now a day's a vast number of professional colleges are emerging in Kerala. But most of them doesn't have basic facilities to furnish the students with excellent education and placement opportunities. North Malabar institute of technology is one of the recently emerged colleges in Kerala which now provide all the top class facilities and amenities that a good college can provide. The college is located in Nelliadukkam near Kanhangad in Kasargod district. It is approved by " All India Council for Technical Education " (AICTE) and has the affiliation of Kannur University. The college was established in 2013 and presently it offer 5 B-tech degree courses. The college has a team of highly qualified and dedicated faculties and well experienced professors retried from other famous engineering colleges which helps the students to achieve good result in their university examination. 
Mode of Admission
The mode of admission is strictly based on merit. 50% of the total seats offered by the college is based on the centralized allotment from MG University and the remaining 50% is on management quota. Eligibility for the admission to the college is, students should qualified in All Kerala Entrance Examination run by the government and should pass plus 2 or equivalent exam with 50% marks for the subjects such as physics, chemistry, Mathematics and computer science. 1) Civil engineering
Civil engineering is one of the time - honored branch of engineering which deals with the planning, design and construction of engineering structures such as dams, roads, bridges, tunnels etc. North Malabar institute of technology provide a total of 60 seats for this branch with all the lab facilities and amenities. Major specialized areas in civil engineering includes construction engineering, structural engineering, environmental engineering, transportation engineering, geodetic engineering, hydraulic and water resources engineering etc. Even though placement opportunities are less for this branch, it has wide job opportunities in and outside the country.
2) Mechanical engineering
This is also an oldest branch of engineering which mainly deals with the study of machines and its constructions. The college provide a total of 60 seats for this branch. Major specialized areas in mechanical engineering includes industrial engineering, mechatronics and power, materials and manufacturing engineering etc.
3) Electrical and electronics engineering
Electrical and electronics engineering is a very broad branch of engineering and it includes areas like microprocessors, digital signal and image processing, telecommunication and information system, power system and industrial power, optical devices and systems, digital signal processing, nanotechnology and MEMS, nano electronics and photonics etc. It mainly deals with the study of electronics, electricity and electro magnetism. The college provide a total of 60 seats for electrical and electronics engineering.
4) Electronics and communication engineering
This is a new branch in the field of engineering, now emerged to the level of other branches due to it wide placement and job opportunities. Major specialized areas in Electronics and communication engineering include bio medical signal processing, image processing, instrumentation etc. 60 seats are provided by the college for this branch along with a well equipped lab.
5) Computer science and engineering
A broad branch of engineering which mainly deals with the study of computer and its application. The College provide a total of 60 seats for this branch along with well equipped computer lab coupled with high speed internet facility. Major specialized areas in Computer science and engineering include computer servicing technology, data processing, data base system, information science, management information system, neural network, artificial intelligence, cognitive science, computer information etc.Top class facilities
Central Library:As far as considering a college library is an essential factor to furnish the students with proper knowledge. North Malabar institute of technology provide a well equipped and computerized library with many volumes of engineering books, magazines, periodicals, journals and news papers. A specious reading room is also provided with in the library. Students as well as teachers can avail this facility at any time and have the permission to bring the book to home. Two staffs are appointed in the library for issuing books and to maintain the library disciplines.
Hostel:The college provide separate hostels facilities for boys and girls. The hostels are very hygienic and dust free and very secured to ensure the well living of the students. Boys hostel can accommodate up to 300 students and girls hostel up to 150 with three students in each room. Warden are appointed in each hostels to look after the daily disciplines. A spacious room is provided in each block of the two hostels for watching TV, reading news papers and for other entertainments.
Computing center:The college provide a well equipped and fully air-conditioned computer lab with high end system, printers and scanners for the need of each and every students. High speed internet is also coupled with the computer lab for the quick browsing. Students can take any number of copies in skimpy cost and can freely download any numbers files or required data.
Canteen:A college canteen is function inside the campus which serves most of the delicious dishes in an affordable rate. It provide breakfast, dinner, lunch along with snacks and cool drinks. The canteen is 100 % hygienic and are well maintained by staff all the time. The canteen can accommodate above 100 people. A separate hall is provided with in the canteen for HOD's and faculties.
Conveyance:Most of the colleges doesn't have good conditioned transportation vehicle that makes the students to be late for classes and miss their valuable lectures and even it would be late in the evening when students reach home. North Malabar Institute of Technology has well developed transportation facility that connects even the most remote areas of the district. In total NMIT owns a number of college buses that provide excellent service under the experienced drivers and staffs. The buses are maintained up to date to ensure safe and convenient ride. The 60% students of this college use college buses.
