Indi Commandos Shifting Kochi IPL Venue to Ahmedabad
According to the latest reports, Indi Commandos franchise is planning for a shift of the home ground of Kochi IPL team to Ahmedabad. Kochi IPL Team franchise has sent a report to IPL CEO indicating for a shift of the homeground of India Commandos from Kerala/Kochi to Ahmedabad. This is the second move from Kochi IPL franchise for the shift of IPL venue from Kerala.
The main reasons behind the new thought are:
1. High entertainment tax in Kerala
2. Inability to construct new stadium in Kerala.
3. The Kochi IPL Team is worried much about the pitch condition in Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium.
The letter says that- "Our only concern is entertainment tax, for which we are making a presentation for exemption. Indore as a city can only digest maximum two IPL games as compared to the major cities. Besides, Indore does not have any direct connectivity with the certain centres. The travel will lead to loss of time and will be fatigue to the players with additional expense burden to the franchise and IPL." They have also indicate the high entertainment tax of 36% in Kerala. So, that will be a great outflow to the franchise and they will not be in a comfortable position if the matches are held here in Kerala.
The Kerala High Court had passed a stay order on the development of a new stadium in EdaKochi. This made the situation worse. The Court had pointed that the construction of new stadium will cause environemental inbalance. Further, the present homeground of Kochi team is not in a good condition. The IPL franchise doubt that the pitch can't host seven home matches of Indi Commandos in the coming IPL seasons.
The letter is concluded by stating the following lines-"In the above mentioned scenarios we would request you to consider giving our franchise Ahmedabad as a permanent venue. There is no entertainment tax and secondly, the state association has better infrastructure facilities."
Earlier the two matches out of the seven matches of India Commondos are shifted to Indore in the fourth IPL schedule published by BCCI. Although there were movements to take Kochi IPL Team to Indore, the franchise rejected it due to the high tax to be paid in Indore.
Kochi IPL Team franchise has revelaed their name and logo on Wednesday. The omission of Kochi and Kerala from the team name was just an indication of shifting the venue to some other places. Later they added Kerala after Indi Commandos to make their fans happy. Let us wait and fine if Kerala can watch it's team in the home ground or in Ahemdabad.!
