Alappuzha New Constituencies (Seats) in Kerala Assembly Election 2011

There are number of changes in constituency in Alappuzha district. The number of constituencies reduced from eleven to nine in Kerala assembly election 2011. Mararikulam constituency which get famous trough the defeat of V.S Achuthanandan in 1996 will not be there for Kerala assembly election 2011. In addition to this Pandalam constituency will not be their for Kerala assembly election 2011. LDF has very good influence in Mararikulam constituency but now area under Mararikulam is joined to Alappuzha constituency which is considered as UDF constituency.

Now Alappuzha constituency contain half of municipality wards and Grama panchayaths. The rest half of wards of municipality goes to Ambalappuzha constituency. The five Grama Panchayaths which was present in Pandalam constituency will be added to Mavellikkara constituency. The rest three panchayaths is added to Adoor constituency in Pathanamthitta.

In 2009 Lok Sabha election UDF got eight constituencies in Alappuzha district but LDF has to satisfy with Mavellikkara constituency.
