Now only very counted time is remaining to know the result of the Piravam By-Election 2012. The result of Piravom By Election is a prestigious issue for both LDF and UDF. The By-Election was held on 17th March 2012. A record of 86.3 percentage votes were polled in Piravom Constituency. Both Left and United fronts have claimed that the high polling percentage is the signal for their victory. LDF candidate M J Jacob said the media that the high poll percentage is a good sign for them the peoples protest against UDF while UDF candidate Anoop Jacob said that Victory is certain for them in Piravom constituency.
The Piravam By Election came into picture after the death of the former Food and Civil Supplis Minister, T M Jacob. Anoop Jacob, the UDF candidate is the son of T M Jacob. LDF candidate M J Jacob was defeated by T M jacob by a margin of 157 votes. So the result of Piravaom constituency is unpredictable. But both fronts are much confident from their part.
Currently out of the 140 legislative assembly seats, 71 seats under UDF while 67 seats are under the control of LDF. The resignation of Neyyatinkara MLA R Selvaraj of CPM made 2 vacant seats.
