About Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 25th August 1984. This beautiful Sanctuary is located 40 kms away from Thodupuzha in Idukki district. Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary spreads about 77 sq.kms and the altitude is 450-758m above sea level. The Sanctuary is exclusively known for Nilgiri Thars and elephants. The forest area of Idukki Sanctuary lies between Cheruthoni and Periyar river. Best Time to Visit: September-Octobar
